Sam Jones BBQ is a chinese bbq in Raleigh, North Carolina. Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 11 am–9 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (984) 206-2555. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, samjonesbbq.com.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.3 out of 5 from 2,204 reviews, which is a strong result for a chinese bbq in Raleigh and suggests consistent service.

Raleigh is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Raleigh is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Sam Jones has been on my bucket list for a while now, and it definitely didn't disappoint! The pulled pork was next level with the way they mix in the crispy bits of skin with the chopped pork. Just delicious! The sweet sauce and vinegar sauce are both great, but the chopped pork doesn't need it. The ribs and turkey we're fantastic as well! The ribs had excellent flavor and they were perfectly tender as I bit into them leaving a clean bite without all the meat falling off the bone. That's a perfectly cooked rib if you ask me. The chicken is good, but if you order the 3 meat platter like I did then I highly recommend subbing the ribs in place of the chicken. The beans were awesome and the mac n cheese was creamy goodness. Personally I didn't love the coleslaw but the controversial cornbread that I just had to try was interesting in a good way for me. I was also excited to have a Cheerwine for my first time and it sure was tasty! I was fortunate to get a smokehouse tour as well which was a nice father's day bonus, so if your interested in that type of thing then don't forget to ask. Overall the food, atmosphere, and service was fantastic and I'll be very happy if I ever get the oppor

My boys and I made our father/son monthly road trip to a new barbecue joint and our first stop in North Carolina was Sam Jones. We drove 3 1/2 hours to try some old school eastern North Carolina whole hog. The overall experience was great. The cashier was super helpful when we first got there on Friday at 11 and the rest of the staff was awesome as well. We’ve been to 25 different barbecue spots before Friday and this was the first place we’ve been to that does the whole hog with the skin chopped up inside of it. Absolutely loved it! We got the platter with a few different sides and a few desserts to choose from. My favorite thing about it was everything was just nice and simple and just old-school barbecue. Nothing over the top, nothing was over seasoned or underseasoned. Just great classic barbecue. Although I enjoyed every bite of the protein options, the ribs were the star for me. All the sides were tasty, but I really enjoyed the baked beans that had a sweet Yet slightly spicy kick. Between the banana pudding, strawberry pudding, and the chocolate eclair, the four of us couldn’t decide on our favorite because we liked them all. We topped off the experience with a pit tour fr

I had some great Carolina style BBQ at Sam Jones. The whole hog was crispy soft and tender at the same time. The collard greens were nice and vinegary how I like them, dipping cornbread in the juice is a good move. The baked beans were above average as well. I personally enjoy the cornbread the dense texture it goes great with the whole hog. The guy at the counter was nice enough to give me one of the cornbread muffins as well. The sweat tea was also excellent. I’ve been wanting to go to skylight inn for years and this was close enough for now! Where my experience took a turn was when there was a homeless lady staring into the window….I then walked past her while going to the bathroom and she made a very inappropriate comment to either me or one of the staff. I then watched one of the staff hand her a bag of food. I went outside to take a picture of the building and I was screamed at by the lady who’s seen in my picture. I’m all for feeding the homeless but not when they harass paying customers. The whole hog was very good I would still return if I’m in the area.

I got the 2 meat πŸ₯© plate bbq pork and ribs. Both were excellent flavor and big portions. Smokey flavor of the meat didn’t need any sauce, but the vinegar sauce was an excellent match. Cornbread was unique I liked it. Sort of a plate to eat the bbq pork from. Comfortable seating and atmosphere perfect for the bbq theme. Order taker was friendly but a little flighty. I would definitely go again.

Chicken is juicy with a tiny spicy and sweet mixed flavor on skin, brisket is tender and perfect to pair with BBQ sauce which is a bit sweeter. Rib is great as well, on a sweet side of flavor, tender as well, unfortunately it’s served not as hot as expected which may be a loss of a premium flavor. Pulled pork is savory, love it. Only drawback is the cornbread, supposed to be more fluffy. Overall, our family enjoyed this meal, and portion is great.
